Welcome to Building Blocks Preschool
Building Blocks
Building Blocks Preschool first opened its doors in Watford in 2017 with a clear mission: to provide a nurturing, stimulating, and inclusive environment where every child can grow, learn, and thrive. Due to the success of our first setting and the support of our wonderful community, we proudly opened our second branch, also in Watford, to meet growing demand.
At Building Blocks, we believe that early childhood is the most important stage in a child’s development. Our dedicated team of qualified practitioners is passionate about fostering curiosity, creativity, and confidence in every child through play-based learning and tailored support.
We are proud to serve families from across Watford and beyond, offering a safe, welcoming, and enriching space where children build the strong foundation they need for their future learning journey.

Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
The Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice (0–25 years, 2015) explains that a child has Special Educational Needs (SEN) if they have a learning difficulty or disability that means they need extra or different support to help them learn and develop.
A child is considered to have a learning difficulty or disability if they:
• Find learning significantly more difficult than most children of the same age, or
• Have a disability that makes it harder for them to access the same learning opportunities as other children.
Children who are not yet of school age may also be identified as having SEN if they are likely to need extra support when they reach school age.
Many children with SEN also have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010. This includes physical or mental conditions that have a long-term and significant impact on everyday activities. Examples can include long-term medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, epilepsy or cancer.
Having a medical condition does not always mean a child has SEN. However, if a child needs additional educational support beyond reasonable adjustments, aids or services, they will be supported under the SEND framework.
